According to ecommerceIQ's survey results, many Shopee users (22.6%) said that "low product prices" are the main reason they choose Shopee. Online shoppers who prefer Lazada gave multiple reasons. Among them, those who chose a “wide range of products” (14.2%) even exceeded those who chose “low product prices” (13.3%).
The study also showed that Thai shoppers are very interested in bargains; the most important reason for most respondents to choose online shopping is "lower prices."
As Thailand is an emerging market, the number of orders and the average value of orders are still at a low level, with 64% of orders being less than US$30.
The products that Thais buy most online are mobile electronic products, followed by fashion and beauty products. The gender differences between these categories are very obvious. For example, 65.8% of people who buy beauty products online are women, while only 13.3% of people who buy car products online are women.
The report pointed out that nearly half of all Thai customers are from Bangkok urban areas. In general, online shoppers inside and outside Bangkok have similar characteristics.
